When making decisions about the services we commission it is important that we have a clear and transparent process to demonstrate how we apply sufficient challenge and rigour at all stages, including scrutiny of the levels of public and patient engagement and consultation required. This is provided through Gateway Meetings.
The purpose of the Gateway Meetings is to provide assurance to the Governing Body of the CCG that:
- Commissioning/decommissioning proposals are developed with appropriate and sufficient public engagement plans and activities;
- Commissioning/decommissioning proposals are reviewed from a patient and public perspective.
Members of the public are part of the Gateway Meetings and work with the CCG to assure public and patient engagement is sufficient and approapriate. To help do this, the CCG co-created with members of the Public and Patient Participation Group, an Engagement Assessment Tool. The Enagement Assessment Tool helps define the appropriate level of engagement and consultation for CCG projects.
You can see the Engagement Assessment Tool here.
